Megadeth bassist David Ellefson has launched a new band with Sons of Apollo frontman and onetime Journey vocalist Jeff Scott Soto.

The project, simply dubbed Ellefson-Soto, is debuting with a cover of the song “Swords & Tequila,” originally by the classic metal band Riot. You can download the track now via Ellefson’s Bandcamp.

The Ellefson-Soto lineup also includes guitarist Andy Martongelli and drummer Paolo Caridi, who both play in Ellefson’s solo band. The “Swords & Tequila” cover features guest vocals from singer Rick Hughes, as well.

“Jeff and I have been friends for so many years that it’s great to finally collaborate on some material together,” Ellefson says. “He has such a distinctive voice and perfect style for some new ideas my guitarist Andy Martongelli and I have been composing. We are excited about the progress of it all and thought this would be a perfect time to give a little sneak preview.”
