Medicare Open Enrollment starts on Monday, October 15, 2018 and runs through Friday, December 7, 2018.
Every year between Oct. 15 and Dec. 7, Medicare recipients must decide if their current coverage will continue to meet their needs through the upcoming year. Changes must be made by Dec. 7 to be effective in 2019.
The prescription drug coverage plan that is part of Medicare coverage can cause confusion. All Medicare recipients are required to sign up for a prescription drug coverage plan which is known as Medicare Part D.
