The McGehee Dermott The Times-News published an article on Wednesday, July 7 about the arrest of a McGehee woman who allegedly stole a car and was charged with felony theft.
According to Criminal Investigator Clint Bradberry with the Desha County Sheriff’s Department, Cortlyn Brianna Foster, 26, has been charged with theft of property, breaking and entering, and possession of a controlled substance stemming from the June 22 incident.
As stated in the police reports, Foster was riding in her Fiat with a 17-year-old unnamed male when they became stuck in a muddy field near Belco Lake. The juvenile male left on foot and returned with a tractor and then hit her car with the tractor which upset Foster. Foster told authorities that she walked to a nearby house and knocked on the door for help. She said she was “wet and cold and mosquitoes were biting her” so she got into a white Chevy Cruze in the driveway, which still had keys in it, and drove away.
Dumas police found the vehicle near the intersection of highways 54 and 83 around 3 p.m. the next day. The officer quickly found out that Foster had an active arrest warrant from Arkansas Community Corrections. Officers also conducted a search of Foster’s property and revealed a pill believed to be Xanax.
