Plans are underway for the 2023 McGehee Industrial Foundations annual BBQ and Auction.
According to the McGehee Dermott Times News, the event will be the first since 2019 and will be held May 4 at the McGehee Men’s Club.
The foundation has been a major supporter of the World War II Japanese American Internment Camp Museum located at the railroad depot which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year.
The newspaper reported that plans for the event include comments from actor George Takei, who was interned at the camp with his parents when he was five years old and played Lieutenant Sulu on Star Trek.
Proceeds from the event fund the museum and its programs.
