A McGehee farmer has been recognized for his contributions to the soybean growing world.

According to the McGehee Dermott Times-News, Matt Miles was the winner of the “Champions” category in the 2020 “Grow for the Green” promotion sponsored by the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board and the Arkansas Soybean Association.

The newspaper reported that Miles” soybeans had a yield of 116.858 bushels per acer and this was the sixth time he had produced a yield higher than 100 bushels per acre since the Race for 100 began in 2007.  The first three producers, including Miles, reached the 100 goal in 2013 and Miles set the record in 2019 with 120.533 bushels per acre.

Two other Desha County farmers, Kenneth Robertson and Caper Robertson recorded the highest soybean yields in the Southeast Delta Region with 92.075 and 91.431 bushels per acre respectively.
