Spring cleaning events are planned at both McGehee and Dermott, according to the McGehee Dermott Times-News.

The newspaper reported that annual spring cleanup activities have already started in Dermott and will run through April 2 while events in McGehee will begin March 29 and end April 16.

At Dermott, roll off dumpsters were placed at various locations for trash and other items but city officials said items such as refrigerators, tires, air conditioners or items containing freon, oil, wet paint or other refrigerants are not allowed in those dumpsters. To dispose of them, call the Dermott City Shop.

At McGehee, residents can place items on the curb for pickup, but they should be divided into separate stacks. Limbs should be cut into no more than four-foot sections and couches, chairs and other wood items should be stacked with limbs. Any metal or glass items should be placed in separate stacks.

The newspaper reported that city trucks will run throughout the city during the event so there is no need to call the Municipal building to request pickup.
