A Newport man was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Grant County Saturday morning.
According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas Department of Public Safety, Raymond Martinez, 79, was driving a 2004 Ford westbound at the intersection of Highway 167 and Highway 167B when he turned south into the path of a 2020 Kenworth that was northbound at the time.
The Kenworth struck the driver’s side of the Ford and Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene by the Grant County Coroner.
The accident was reported at 9:53 a.m. and the death was the 412th reported on the state’s highways so far this year.
