A North Little Rock man was killed in the early morning hours Sunday when he was hit by a vehicle that left the scene.

According to a preliminary report, Gary Wayne Lea, 57, was southbound on U/s. 67/167 when the 2005 Yamaha he was riding crashed and became disabled in the middle lane. Lea became separated from the motorcycle and a 2008 Hyundai that was also southbound veered around Lea but struck the motorcycle and also became disabled in the roadway.

A third vehicle, which was not identified struck Lea and left the scene without stopping. Lea was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident was reported at 12:12 a.m. in Sherwood and according to the report, it was raining and the roadway was wet at the time of the accident.

The death was the 432nd so far this year on the state’s highways.
