A second suspect has been taken into custody as police continue their investigation into a shooting on March 7 that resulted in the death of two people and two others being injured.

Quentine Lowe, 18, was identified as one of three people who were involved in the shooting, Deputy Prosecutor Joe West said during a court hearing Monday.

West said Lowe was identified by Kavon Bledsoe, 21, who drove the vehicle containing Lowe and two others, Dasha Cobbs, 17, and Kenon Smith, 20, to the Sunset Village Apartments where the shooting occurred. That vehicle was later burned and Bledsoe was arrested when he tried to report that it had been stolen.

Bledsoe appeared in court earlier this month and is being held without bond.

West explained the arrest of Lowe.

Cobbs and Smith are still at large.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth agreed to prosecutors’ request to hold Lowe with no bond on two counts of capital murder, two counts of first-degree battery, one count of committing a terroristic act, and one count of tampering with evidence.

She rejected a claim by attorney Theodis Fountain, who is representing Lowe, that there was insufficient evidence to hold Lowe on the allegations.
