A reported disturbance on Monday resulted in the arrest of a Pine Bluff man who allegedly fought with two people and pointed a gun at one of them.

Demerice Johnson, 49, was taken into custody after officers were sent to Kenwood Apartments and during a court hearing Wednesday, Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson told the court what the officer found.

Detective Corey Wilfong reported that Lee told officers Johnson had pulled a handgun out of his shorts and pointed it at her brother.

Police interviewed the brother, Robbie Moore and Carson told the court what Moore said.

Lee said when she called the police Johnson put the gun in his apartment and also grabbed her cell phone and broke it. Johnson was not interviewed after he asked for an attorney.

Carson said Johnson has a 2018 conviction for possession of a controlled substance with the purpose to delivery.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $10,000 bond for Johnson after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with aggravated assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was ordered to have no contact with the victims and to come back to court on June 1.
