A Malvern woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 67 north in Hot Spring County Wednesday afternoon.
According to a preliminary report, Penny Whitlock, 59, was northbound just south of U.S. Highway 171 Glen Rose when the 2017 Kia Soul she was driving left the roadway to the right and struck a culvert, causing the vehicle to go airborne and flip multiple times.
Whitlock was ejected from the vehicle and taken to a hospital at Hot Springs where she was pronounced dead.
The accident was reported at 2:50 p.m. and the death was the 142nd so far this year on the state’s highways.
