William Jenkins along with Uptown Salon and Boutique and the City of Pine Bluff partnered together to bring back the Main St. Block Party event that took place Saturday evening. The block party featured several vendors and it was free for the community to enjoy food and live music. Local artists were able to perform live at the event showcasing their talent to their family, community, and potential fans.

Jenkins began hosting block parties in 2015 to give business owners a way to celebrate and highlight local businesses with fun and support from the community. This year’s block party is a special one after having to cancel last years due to the ongoing difficulties that local businesses have faced because of the restraints of the pandemic.

The block party gave everyone a space to celebrate and gather together after having to follow social distancing measures over the last year. It also gave the city a sense of normalcy while also showcasing the newly paved roads, new street lights, and other aspects that are in progress due to the revitalization of downtown.

“I’m most excited to see everybody back outside,” Tavorus Hollowell said. “Young and old, take a look at downtown and all the work being done.”

Jenkins plans on hosting another block party this year that will be held on Saturday, May 22nd.
