The Pine Bluff Police Department has announced that Michael King Jr., who was wanted for Capital Murder in connection with a deadly shooting on July 18, has surrendered voluntarily to authorities.

King turned himself in without incident at the Pine Bluff Police Department on Monday evening. He has since been booked into the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center, where he is being held on a charge of Capital Murder.

The charge stems from the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Markee Avery, which occurred around 3:21 p.m. on July 18 at 1212 South Spruce Street. Officers arrived on the scene to find Avery lying outside the residence with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley.
