Authorities confirmed Monday afternoon that the remains are those of Susan Cooper. LITTLE ROCK — A body found last week in Hot Spring County has been identified as Susan Cooper who went missing nearly two years ago.

Authorities confirmed Monday afternoon that the remains are those of Susan Cooper. Hot Spring County Sheriff Mike Cash said in news release that Cooper was identified through DNA at the state Crime Lab.

Cooper went missing in September 2016, she was 44 at that time. Her body was found in a field off Grigsby Ford Road just west of Malvern.

Donald Smith 35 of Malvern is facing capital murder in her death. He was arrested July 26th and is being held in Saline County Jail. Racheal Cooper , Susan Cooper’s former sister-in-law was als0 sentenced August 2017 to 25 years in prison. As part of a plea deal, Racheal Cooper agreed to “cooperate with the state and testify truthfully in any proceeding prosecution brought by the state against person(s) responsible for the murder of Susan Cooper.

The investigation is still on going.
