Lend a Hand of Lincoln County has received a $12,824 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.

According to the Lincoln Ledger newspaper, Lincoln County has distributed emergency food and shelter funds previously with Lend a Hand participating. These agencies were responsible for providing 4,600 individuals with 69.000 meals.

Under terms of the grant from the National Board, local agencies chosen to receive money must be private voluntary non-profits or units of government, be eligible to receive federal funds, have an accounting system, practice nondiscrimination, have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs and if they are a private voluntary organization, have a volunteer board.
