Lincoln County Judge Buddy Earnest on Tuesday described the economy of his county as “not too bad.”

Earnest went on to tell Deltaplex News about some of the contributors to that economy and tax base.

He said the county has had difficulty keeping employees because they can go somewhere else and make a lot more money. Jefferson County recently gave its employee pay raises but Earnest said his county could not afford to do that.

With a new jail in Lincoln County nearing completion, Earnest said he is focusing on improving security at the Lincoln County Courthouse.
