Liberty Utilities has kept its commitment to donating money to the Aquatic Center in Pine Bluff.
On Wednesday, two company executives presented Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington with a symbolic check in the amount of $5,000. This is the second installment of the donation that will eventually total $25,000.
The presentation was made by Erin Foster, manager, and R.L. Davis, public relations manager.
Washington said there has been a lot of support for the facility, which is expected to open in 2019 and will feature, among other things, a competition pool. She said she hopes that by 2028, one of the swimmers competing in the Olympics in California will be from Pine Bluff, having gotten their start at the Aquatic Center.
