A spokesman for Liberty Utilities on Sunday denied a social media post that claimed the main pump that draws water from the aquifer had gone bad and was being replaced. “There is nothing wrong with the aquifer, there’s never been an issue with the pump,” Lamont Davis said when asked by Floyd Donald. Davis went on to say “everything’s working…things are good.”
Davis said a task force which includes mayor Shirley Washington, County Judge Gerald Robinson, Jefferson Regional CEO Brian Thomas and a number of others has been formed to look at what has happened, including looking for water leaks. Davis said 7 to 10 leaks have been found so far and as the snow continues to melt a visual inspection will probably find others.
With temperatures warming up, Davis asked consumers to continue to try and conserve water so pressure can build back up in the lines.
