Fewer People Taking the COVID Vaccine

Gov. Asa Hutchinson made more people eligible for the COVID vaccine Monday, but health officials say there’s resistance to getting it.

By expanding the 1-B group, the governor made it possible for another 180,000 to receive the vaccine.  However, it appears fewer people are showing up for their appointments even though the state has increased its vaccine supply.

According to reports, a highly advertised and well-staffed vaccination clinic in Texarkana over the weekend only had 500 appointments even though they were prepared for 1,400.

A spokesperson for a pharmacists group says he believes the next phase will be opened at the end of this month.
