Lady Lions Drops Home Opener Against Lady Devilettes

Pine Bluff, Ark. – Mississippi Valley State Lady Devilettes rallied in the fourth inning for a 7-3 win over the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions in their non-conference home opener at the Torii Hunter Softball Complex Tuesday evening.

UAPB struck first in the bottom of the first inning, when Tamira Chatman hit a hard single to first base, followed by a double by Ann Jones to left field to score the game first run.  Kameron Graham would keep the bats hot, with a single to center field to score Chatman to put the Lady Lions up 2-0.

Mississippi Valley would respond by scoring one run in the second inning and two runs in the top of the third inning to give the Lady Divilettes their first lead of the game.   Mississippi Valley would tack on four more runs to secure their second win of the season.

Jones led UAPB going 2-for-3 with one RBI and scoring one run, followed by Alexandria Taylor with two hits.    Sharia Cormier led the way for the Lady Devilettes with three hits and two RBI.

The Lady Lions will be on the road to face LSU-Alexandria on Wed, March 20th  at 1:00 PM, before hosting Alabama St. for a weekend series beginning on Friday, March 22nd at 1:00 PM.
