Pine Bluff School Board members approved a one year contract for current interim Superintendent Monica King-McMurray, who previously served as the PBSD executive director of Learning Services, at a meeting held last week.

McMurray’s contract is effective through June 30, 2019. The district will begin the search for a permanent superintendent in January. McMurray took over the job after former superintendent Michael Robinson resigned in June.

In other news, the board hired former PBSD superintendent Frank Anthony as a consultant to McMurray.

Anthony’s contract is effective Aug. 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019 school year. The contract states that Anthony is to provide professional assistance, consulting, and mentoring to the superintendent in the following areas: day to day operational procedures, school finance/millage configuration, curriculum and instruction/assessment, human resources/personnel management, superintendent school board relations, leadership/legal issues, reduction in force, etc.

The contract also states that Anthony will have two face-to-face meetings with the superintendent monthly and respond to unlimited phone calls/emails daily.

PBSD will pay Anthony $19,250.00 for rendering consulting services for the 2018-19 school year.
