JOHNSON NAMED GAC CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball junior Jordan Johnson earned Great American Conference Co-Player of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday. Johnson garnered the recognition after belting four home runs and driving in 11 runs to lead the Weevils to a series sweep over Southern Nazarene over the weekend.

In the Weevils three-game sweep of Southern Nazarene, Johnson went 10-for-12 with four home runs, 11 RBI and nine runs scored. In game one, he went 4-for-4 with three home runs and eight RBI. In game two, he doubled twice. In the finale, he again went 4-for-4, this time with two doubles and a home run. He finished with a 2.250 slugging percentage.

This weekend the Weevils travel to Oklahoma Baptist for a three-game series Friday and Saturday. First pitch Friday is set for 6 p.m. while Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled to start at noon.
