Jefferson Regional Hospital had the first reported case of COVID-19 more than a year ago and last September had 28 patients who had been diagnosed with the virus.

On Monday, Erin Bolton, a nurse at the hospital said there were 25 patients with COVID, 13 of them in the Intensive Care Unit.

Bolton told Deltaplex News that last year, the average age of the patients being treated for COVID was 49 while this year the averages age is down to 38.

She also talked about Jefferson County’s vaccination rate.

Vaccinations are free and easily available, and Bolton discussed the importance of getting one before school starts.

Last week, UAMS announced a change in their visitation policy, limiting patients to one visitor per day. Bolton was asked about the policy at Jefferson Regional.
