Jefferson County employees will continue to go without pay due to the Jefferson County Quorum Court and County Judge Gerald Robinson failing to come to an agreement on a county budget Wednesday night.
Several elected officials have been vocal about the lack of pay, to include Jefferson County Tax Collector Tony Washington, who could possibly lose a Chief Deputy in his office.
Washington continued by saying the residents of Jefferson County are not receiving good government at this time.
A budget was previously passed by the Quorum Court, but was ultimately vetoed by Robinson. Robinson then submitted a budget that was rejected by the Quorum Court. Washington said that budget wasn’t sufficient, and called out the Quorum Court members that supported it.
