
Jefferson County Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr. has placed the blame for county employees not getting paid on Jan. 15 squarely on the shoulders of County Judge Gerald Robinson who vetoed a proposed 2025 county budget prepared by other elected officials and insists that only a budget he prepared would be voted on.
An effort to read that budget for a second time was rejected by the quorum court Wednesday. Woods was asked about reports that Robinson was trying to get approval to do a special court order which would allow people involved in public safety, deputies and MECA (Metropolitan Emergency Communications Association) dispatchers to get paid.
