A Jefferson County man was killed Wednesday in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 270 near Poyen.
A report from the Arkansas State Police says that 26-year-old Jalyn Mayweathers of Jefferson County was a passenger in a 2009 Dodge driven by 31-year-old Rashad Nalls of Lincoln County at 7:14 a.m. when Nalls attempted to pass another vehicle. As Nalls attempted to pass the other vehicle a 2018 Kenworth was approaching the vehicle he was driving.
The report said that Nalls swerved before striking the Kenworth head on before crossing the roadway and coming to a rest in the ditch.
Mayweathers was declared deceased at the scene by the Hot Spring County Coroner. Nalls received injuries in the accident according to the report.
Weather conditions were clear and road conditions were dry at the time of the accident according to the Arkansas State Police.
Five people have been killed on Arkansas highways in 2022 according to the Arkansas State Police.
