For the last two months, a majority of the members of the Jefferson County Quorum Court have done something they have not done for most of this year. They have voted for appropriations for a number of county departments, including the road department.

Appearing on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show, Jefferson County Judge Gerald Robinson said that despite the recent influx of money, the county is still far behind its goal in terms of repairing county roads.

A big part of the problem has been Justices of the Peace Lloyd Franklin Jr., and Alfred Carroll and Morning Show host Greg Horne pointed out Franklin will be gone in a month and a half. He also asked Robinson if he knew why some of the members of the Quorum Court had a change of heart and were voting for the appropriations now.

Because of the lack of funds, the county was forced to lay off a number of employees, including from the road department, with the anticipation that they would be able to bring those people back at the first of the year.
