A Pine Bluff man was arrested Friday after he was found with a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Texas.

Terence Lavine, 35 was taken into custody after police were sent to the Splash Car Wash on Camden Road at 6:30 p.m. in response to a report of a possibly stolen vehicle, a white Chevrolet Malibu with a Texas license plate.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Detective Jason Boykin, Deputy Prosecutor Berth Carson explained what happened next.

The victim told Dallas Police she had met a guy on a dating app and was hanging out with him. She said he asked to use the car to go to the store and after several hours when he did not return, she reported the car stolen. She was shown a picture of Lavine and said he was not the one who had taken the car.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $10,000 bond for Lavine Monday after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with theft by receiving. He was told to come back to court on Sept. 8.
