An inmate at the Arkansas Department of Corrections Varner Unit in Lincoln County died Friday after he was electrocuted, according to officials with the Arkansas Board of Corrections.
In a release, the Board of Corrections says that 53-year-old inmate Brian Walker was working maintenance and installing lights when he touched a live wire.
First aid was applied at the scene, and Walker was transported to the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, where he was pronounced dead.
Officials say that Walker had convictions back to 1991 including hot checks, violation of DWI 4th offense theft by receiving, breaking and entering, and was serving a 40-year sentence from Pulaski County for a 2007 rape conviction.
