A trend by hospitals across the country to use robotics in surgery has made its way to Jefferson Regional Hospital.
Peter Austin, Senior Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer at the hospital was a recent guest on the Oldies 1013 morning show and talked about it.
Austin said the company whose products are preferred by Doctor Burrell put together a deal and the hospital did not have to buy a robot outright, instead of leasing it. He also made a point to say that although the robot is doing the actual surgery, the doctor is there.
On another subject, Austin said patient surveys have shown that a lot of the hospital’s patients have been very satisfied with their experience.
