Sales taxes revenue in Grant Count increased last year, compared to the previous year, according to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper.

In its Jan. 27 edition, The newspaper reported that Grant County Treasurer Tim Stuckey said the one-quarter cent sales tax generated over a half million dollars, an increase of 47 percent, while the county’s one cent sales tax generated nearly $2.2  million in revenue, a 12-percent increase over last year. He said in total, the county brought in over $400,000 more than the previous year.

Stuckey reported the figures to the Grant County Quorum Court during their regular meeting Jan. 19.

Also at the meeting, County Judge Randy Pruitt said the Quorum Court approved the purchase of three sets of extraction equipment, commonly called the “Jaws of Life” which will be kept at the Cane Creek, Center Grove and Prattsville Fire Department. Former Justice of the Peace Brody Channell urged the council to buy the equipment before he left office.
