The Grant County Quorum Court has made no decision on a request for money from the Jefferson County Fair Board.

According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, the Jefferson County Fair Board requested money to fund a cover for the arena.

At the meeting, Dr. Scott Winston questioned the use of tax dollars by the Quorum Court, saying he did not think it was appropriate to use the tax dollars that might be in competition with private business.

According to the newspaper, Winston has constructed an arena which is set to be covered and measures 150×450 feet meant specifically to bring livestock events to Grant County.

Winston said the arena is building 150 horse stalls which like the arena will be covered, allowing for events regardless of the weather.

Completion of the arena has been set back from September to spring of next year due to supply chain issues, the newspaper reported.
