The Grant County Quorum Court last week voted to create a new fund to deal with money the county is expected to receive from the American Rescue Plan Act, the COVID relief act signed by President Joe Biden earlier this year.

According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, County Treasurer Tim Stuckey said the county would receive over $3.5 million in federal funds, with half of that amount being transferred soon and the rest later.

County officials said federal guidelines about the use of the money are currently very broad and the Association of Arkansas Counties is working on clarify those guidelines to let counties know what they can spend the money for.
