Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Monday said legislation will be filed to end the drama between the Jefferson County Judge and members of the Quorum Court.

She said the legislation will be sponsored by State Senator Ben Gilmore (R-Crossett) and Representative Glen Barnes (D-Pine Bluff) will require that a county that has not passed a budget for the coming year revert to the previous year’s budget.

Jefferson Count employees have not been paid since December, having missed paychecks on Jan. 15 and Jan. 31 because seven members of the quorum court have refused to approve a budget submitted by Robinson and he has refused to put forward a budget the seven propose.
