Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson said Thursday that another 722 positive cases of COVID-19 were reported in the past 24 hours, pushing the state’s cumulative total to 58,745.

There are currently 5,341 active cases, and another 52,665 people have recovered.

At his daily press briefing, Hutchinson said there are currently 433 people hospitalized, that’s two less than yesterday and State Health Officer Dr. Jose Romero said that number was not that low In the past six weeks.

An additional seven deaths were reported bringing the state’s total to 739.

There were eight counties that reported 20 or more active cases of COVID-19 in the past 2 hours, led by Pulaski County which had 64. Benton County reported 37, Sebastian County 36, Pope County 34 and Jefferson County 32. White County had 29 and Romeo said 19 of those were from a single nursing home. Saline Count had 27 cases and Garland County had 20.

The Governor also said President Trump had contacted him and offered federal assistance if needed as now Tropical Storm Laura moves across Arkansas.
