On Tuesday, Gov. Sarach Huckabee Sanders appointed interim Secretary of Health Renee Mallory to serve as permanent Secretary of State Department of Health. This is the second cabinet appointment that Governor Sanders has made this week. Mallory started her career at Arkansas Department of Health in 1988 and has served in a number of roles including chief of staff and deputy director. Before she started at the Department of Health, Mallory worked at Baptist Medical Center Arkadelphia and also Baptist Home Health and Hospice. A Pike County native, Mallory graduated from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia with a bachelor’s degree in nursing according to a news release.
“Renee Mallory has done an excellent job leading the Department of Health as the Interim Secretary – and today, I am proud to announce that she will serve as the permanent Secretary. Her 34 years of service at the Department of Health have prepared her to excel in this role. She is the highly qualified, experienced leader we need at the helm as we work together to improve and protect the health of all Arkansans,” said Governor Sanders in a news release.
