A Gould man was killed Saturday when he was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross U.S. Highway 65 at Gould.

According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, Jauswun Lane, 28, stepped into the southbound traffic lane in front of a 2013 Dodge at 6:17pm.

Lane was taken to Delta Memorial Hospital at Dumas, where he was pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Griffin Gillis.

The driver of the vehicle, who was not identified in the preliminary report, was not injured.

State Police Cpl. Mitch Grant reported that the weather was clear and the roadway dry at the time of the accident.

The death was the 346th on the state’s highways so far this year.
