PINE BLUFF, Arkansas —Following the Golden Lions 14-0 win over Arkansas Baptist, UAPB scored 10 runs late to push pass LeMoyne-Owen 12-3.

Freshman Frank Perez had a dominating performance on the mound Tuesday, striking out eight hitters over the course of three innings allowing only a single run, 2 hits, and 4 base on balls. Junior Andre Greene would slam the door close on the Magicians, striking out the side with no hits or walks allowed.

Junior DeClaudio Irvin went 2-for-3 on the day with a double and two RBIs. Sophomore Lawrence Noble was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI while sophomore shortstop Dante Leach went 2-5 with an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Golden Lions were trailing 1-0 in the fifth inning when they first put runs on the board. Junior Karsten Vasquez came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB and get them on the board.

The score stayed at 1-1 until the very next inning, when the Golden Lions put runs on the scoreboard once again. Leach came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB, which brought the score to 2-1 in favor of the Golden Lions.

UAPB’s lead had disappeared once the seventh inning came around and turned into a 3-2 LeMoyne-Owen advantage, when the Golden Lions re-gained control at 8-3. The Golden Lions bats heated up in the inning, scoring six runs, including a two-run double off the bat of Irvin.

UAPB held the Magicians without a run before their offense got things moving the next inning. The Golden Lions scored four runs in the inning, highlighted by a one-run double off the bat of sophomore Edwin De La Cruz, bringing the UAPB advantage to 12-3. The score remained 12-3 for the rest of the game, as the Golden Lions coasted to the win.
