In just 10 days in August, 167,000 people cast 4.5 Million votes in support of their favorite causes. As a result, 40 communities, in 19 states, including Go Forward Pine Bluff will receive an assist from State Farm. State Farm is proud to announce the Top 40 vote-getting causes that will each receive a $25,000 grant to improve their communities.
State Farm Neighborhood Assist is a crowd-sourced philanthropic program that empowers communities to identify issues in their neighborhoods. Non-profits affiliated with each of the top 40 causes receive grants to address them.
Go Forward Pine Bluff submitted a grant application to renovate the Merrill Community Center Kitchen. As a result the grant will be used towards commercial kitchen appliances, cabinets, flooring and other necessary amenities that will facilitate the ability to provide better nourishment and programming to families that frequent the Center.
A cookout is being planned to celebrate the community rallying together for the benefit of the Center.
“State Farm is here to help life go right in neighborhoods all across the country. We look forward to seeing the changes in these 40 communities because of these Neighborhood Assist grants,” said Allison Bertsche, Public Affairs Director at State Farm.
At least one submission was received from each of the 50 states. The State Farm Review Committee selected the top 200 finalists from 2,000 submissions. In the seven years of the program, more than 250 causes have received a total of $7 million to enact change in their communities.
