Early voting to extend the five-eight cent sales tax, commonly called the Go Forward Sales Tax, and an additional three-eight cent tax devoted to public safety begins May 2 and earlier this week, Mayor Shirley Washington and members of the Pine Bluff City Council expressed their support for the taxes at a press conference.
On Thursday, Go Forward CEO Ryan Watley said the press conference was very important.
Watley appeared on the Oldies 1013 morning show where host Greg Horne said people who have opposed the tax have no plan.
Five of the eight members of the City Council attended that meeting and Horne said that a sixth member of the council, Bruce Lockett, has indicated that he wanted the Go Forward tax to continue permanently, rather than sunset at the end of seven years, as it would if the current election is successful.
