Former Pine Bluff City Council member Bill Brumett will file as an Independent for the 3rd Ward City Council position after collecting 112 signatures from registered voters in the Ward.

Brumett only needed 30 signatures in order to be added to the ballot.

In a press release given only to DeltaplexNews.com Brumett said “After much prayer, talking to family, the business community and encouragement from folks in Ward 3 of Pine Bluff, I am announcing my desire to be re-elected Alderman for Ward 3. To file for the office it is required we submit signatures of at least 30 registered voters in the Ward. After a few days of talking to voters we are submitting 112 signatures of people that want me to serve again.”

Brumett previously served as a Ward 3 Council member for 22 years until he was defeated by current Council Member Ivan Whitfield by a vote of 833-625 in 2018.

“My primary goal is to help Mayor Washington implement the plans from prior years with a positive response,” said Brumett. “And to limit the negative, and monitor finances.”

Brumett will run against Glen Brown Sr., who is also a former Council Member in Pine Bluff. Brown Sr. defeated current Council member Donald Hatchet in the March Democratic primary to earn his way onto the ballot.
