LITTLE ROCK—Montiz Tucker, a multi-convicted felon, will spend the next 20 years in federal prison for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl. Jonathan D. Ross, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, announced the sentence, which was handed down Thursday by United States District Judge D.P. Marshall, Jr.

In addition to the 20 years’ imprisonment, Judge Marshall sentenced Tucker, 30, of Bryant, to five years supervised release. Tucker was indicted on April 5, 2023, in a three-count indictment charging conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime. On May 16, 2024, Tucker plead guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl. There is no parole in the federal system.

An investigation revealed that on April 4, 2023, special agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) performed a controlled delivery of a package that had been intercepted and discovered to contain nearly four kilograms of illicit fentanyl pills. The package, later confirmed to contain 35,636 illicit fentanyl pills, was destined for a residence in Jacksonville, Arkansas, where Tucker accepted the package. Agents immediately executed a federal search warrant and Tucker was found inside the residence, along with two other individuals and the package. Tucker’s bedroom was discovered to contain additional fentanyl pills, cocaine, marijuana, and a loaded Glock 43 firearm.

Classified as a career offender, Tucker’s sentence was based on the offense as well as his documented criminal history involving convictions for possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, cocaine, other controlled substances without a prescription such as oxycodone, Xanax, Promethazine and codeine, and illegal possession of a firearm.

The investigation was conducted by the HSI. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Erin O’Leary.
