Members of the Pine Bluff Police Department are in the early stages of a shooting that left one person dead. The shooting occurred at about 9:00 p.m. on 18th Avenue between Linden and Plum Streets.
Officers in the area on an unrelated call reported hearing multiple gunshots. While trying to locate the source of the shots, a 911 call was received reporting a vehicle collision with injury the 1200 block of West 18th Ave. When officers arrived they found a single gunshot victim in the driver’s seat of a passenger car. The driver was unresponsive and medical help was summoned from Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services as well as the local ambulance service. Eric Belcher with the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office late pronounced the victim dead. This incident is being investigated as the 18th homicide for 2019 in Pine Bluff. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family.
