A $2,500 bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff woman accused of attacking an EMT who was trying to take the woman to Jefferson Regional Hospital after an accident Monday.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Tanya Weston, 40, with second-degree battery.

Deputy Prosecutor Caleb Conrad said during the ride to the hospital, Weston reportedly became confused and thought she was being kidnapped. The EMT attempted to show Weston her medical identification but Weston got free of her restraints, picked up a blue bag containing a ventilator and struck the EMT in the face with the bag.

The EMT was able to get the bag back and was thrown to the ground where she struggled until help arrived and they were able to subdue Weston.

Weston was ordered to have no contact with the victim until the case is settled and said she would hie her own attorney.
