The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas have dispatched 55 lineworkers and utility vehicles, along with construction equipment, to assist DEMCO of Central City, Louisiana, with potential power restoration efforts anticipated from Tropical Storm Francine.
The 55 professional lineworkers are with Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (AECI) of Little Rock. Additional crews from AECI and the state’s 17 local electric cooperatives are on stand-by to assist if events require more crews.
The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas comprise 17 electric distribution cooperatives; Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (AECI), a Little Rock-based cooperative that provides services to the distribution cooperatives; and Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corp. (AECC), a generation and transmission cooperative. The distribution cooperatives provide electricity to approximately 600,000 members, or customers, in Arkansas and surrounding states.
