Elbert “Sonny” Woodruff, 79, of White Hall, went to be with the Lord Saturday, December 21, 2019, at his home.
Mr. Woodruff was born September 12, 1940, in Lepanto, Arkansas, a son of the late John Grover and Ruth Garrett Woodruff. He was reared and received his early education in Star City and graduated from Grady High School in 1959. He joined the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Woodruff worked at International Paper (currently Evergreen Packaging) from which he retired after 37 years in 2003.
He was a member of Centennial Fellowship Church. During his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors, working in his yard, gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was very dedicated to his job of which he enjoyed very much.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Linda Tucker Woodruff whom he married December 23, 1963, in Star City; three wonderful sons, Mike (Teresa) Woodruff of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Matt (Brenna) Woodruff of White Hall, and Mitch (Nancy) Woodruff of White Hall; five precious grandchildren, Mason Woodruff, Miles Woodruff, Morgen Woodruff, Nathan Woodruff and Kendall Jackson; one brother, John (Carolyn) Woodruff of Junction City, Arkansas; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Hoyt Woodruff, and three sisters, Myra Burton, Betty Ruth Barlow, and Lillian Harrison.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 26, 2019, 1:00 PM, Robinson-Fuller White Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in White Hall. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM.
