Drew County will be cracking down on parents who owe child support money according to Sheriff Tim Nichols.

In a statement released Tuesday Nichols said the following:

“I have always believed that parents should be able to co-parent and get along for the kids. I have also believed that if they are able to do to and they make a valiant effort to fulfill their child support obligations then there should be some common ground of compassion and understanding.

However, from a lot of people this is not what I am seeing. We have both men and women who are failing to fulfill their responsibilities or even make an attempt. I can name many who are $20,000-$70,000 in arrears.

Therefore, while we have some room in the jail we will be making significant arrests on Body Attachments. So please do your part before you are held on your active Body Attachment.”
