According to a recent article released from South Ark Daily, The Drew County NAACP Branch 6042 invites branch members and the community to a Meet and Greet and Voter’s Rights and Voter Registration Rally. The event will be held Monday, Sept. 6 from 10 am to 1 pm at the Jordan Park pavilion.
The rally is sponsored by the Membership and Life Membership Committee of the branch, this event will focus on meeting with branch members, voter registration, and voter’s rights. The vision of the NAACP is to ensure a society in which all individuals have equal rights and there is no racial hatred or racial discrimination. According to branch president, Clarissa Pace, “We have a lot of work to do, but we believe we can get it done with more people working together.” In conclusion, she said, “Our local vision is to be bold, involved, and assert equality. These are the kind of events necessary to bring unity and harmony among us all as we continue the journey.”
Committee chair, Lou Lambert, encourages those who have not registered to vote to come by the park to register. She stated if you know of someone who has not registered, bring them. “Voting is a necessary power tool, and it is necessary for the welfare of all citizens,” said Lambert. There will be other speakers, food, and fellowship. Branch t-shirts will be available to purchase as well. Musical entertainment will be provided by DJ Lala, La Darian Pace, which is also a member of the branch.
