Dollarway Cardinal senior Eddie Collins Jr. signed his National Letter of Intent to play football for Greenville University in the fall.

Collins (5’9 170lbs) was called up to play under Coach Marteese Henry as a freshman to help the Cards in their playoff run. He played multiple positions on both sides of the ball throughout his career at Dollarway, but settled in as a defensive back. As a senior, he racked up 102 total tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, 3 pass break-ups, 2 forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and 6 kickoff returns for 95 yards. Collins also helped lead the Cardinals to four consecutive trips to the playoffs, and although Dollarway fell to Glen Rose in the first round, Collins earned Player of the Game honors. He was also named to the 2022 Simmons Bank, Deltaplex Radio Dream Team for his performance last season.

“Anything I asked him to do, he did to the utmost of his ability and just a special young man.” said head coach Marteese Henry as he held back tears of joy. “…we got a group of special young men here and he’s just one of them.” stated Henry.

Academically, Collins plans to major in Clinical Psychology and eventually open clinics focusing on mental health for underserved communities. He will join former Dollarway teammates Terrance Brown and Cherondric Broyles at Greenville University, who won their first conference championship in school history this past season.

Greenville University is located in Greenville Illinois, approximately 50 miles northeast of St. Louis Missouri.
