Democrat James Russell Announces for Governor

Democrat James “Rus” Russell is running for governor, that’s according to his Twitter feed.  Russell, a 48-year-old business owner from Little Rock, says he is frustrated by the state’s leadership the handling of the coronavirus response.

Republican Governor Asa Hutchinson is term-limited and cannot seek re-election.

Three Republicans are running for the top spot in the state.  Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin, Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, and former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who is the daughter of former governor Mike Huckabee, are in the race.

Voters will vote for governor in 2022.

UPDATE:  Lt. Gov. Griffin is running for Attorney General as of Monday morning.
